Imagine having the courage, faith or foresight to embark on an ocean voyage, hit the trail in a covered wagon or move to a foreign country with an unfamiliar language and customs. That's exactly what our early ancestors did.
From Spain, England, Wales, France, Scotland, Norway, Germany, and Ireland, they journeyed in search of a new world—seeking religious freedom, a fresh start, or the thrill of adventure.
They were explorers, soldiers, actors, musicians, lace makers, gold miners, vintners, bootleggers, icemen, flappers, missionaries, politicians, salespeople, morticians, chefs, vaudevillians, lawyers, builders, homemakers, dairymen, and ranchers.
They traveled by land and sea, aboard ships, in covered wagons, pulling handcarts, by train—and no, not on spaceships (that’s still a future dream, for now)!
Read on to discover more about this unique and remarkable family of ours.
